Cubic Zirconia vs Moissanite vs Diamond: An Honest Buyer’s Guide

Antique Gold Tone Copper Alloy Open Band Ring - Wholesale

Sparkle sells, but “which stone” changes price, durability and customer expectation. Here’s the wholesale buyer’s honest comparison.

Cubic zirconia (CZ). Lab-created, brilliant, and very affordable. Softer than the others (Mohs ~8), so it can scuff over years. The default for fashion wholesale — pairs perfectly with our stainless and alloy settings.

Moissanite. Lab-grown, near-diamond hardness (Mohs 9.25), with a distinct fire. Mid-price: a step up from CZ, far below diamond. Growing fast in engagement-adjacent and premium fashion.

Diamond. Natural or lab, hardest (Mohs 10), highest cost and expectation. Usually outside fashion-wholesale scope unless you serve fine-jewelry buyers.

Stocking advice. Lead with CZ for volume fashion; add moissanite for a premium sub-line. Always label the stone accurately — mislabeling stones is a compliance risk.
